Even though I can’t make words yet, I do make lots of sounds – coos, cries, shrieks… all kinds of noises! I don’t understand yet that I’m making these noises, so whenever I make a noise, show me that you hear me. This helps me learn that you can help me or be with me when I make a noise. It’s okay to babble back too! In fact, your “babbling” with me helps me develop my language skills. When I get older and start making “word” sounds, you can help me learn that those have meaning.
