Now that I’m a little older, I’ve probably started playing near other children my age, either at school, play groups, or with my own siblings. Being around other children helps me to start learning my social skills, but at first, this can be really hard for me. I don’t really understand what it means to share a toy, and I might not understand how my words or actions can hurt others. If I’m having trouble adjusting to being around other children, make sure to give me lots of support and not to expect me to do things I can’t do quite yet. Keep my play times short at first and pay close attention while I play so that you can intervene if I start getting angry or upset at another child.
