As I start talking more and more, it can be tempting to “tune out,” especially when you are busy or distracted with something else. But I really need you to let me know you are listening, at least most of the time. When I ask a question, answer it (even if I’ve asked it many times before). If I point to something and name it, look where I am pointing and repeat what I am saying; then ask me a question about the object. As much as you can, have conversations with me in language I can understand. and Be attentive when I want to talk – I’ll feel heard and will want to try and talk more and more.
